Video files can get damaged or corrupted, just like any other kind of files. Fortunately, there are tools like this one which will help you repair broken video files.
Digital Video Repair is a very small and simple utility that lets you repair partially damaged or corrupted AVI video files. It’s really easy-to-use: just load the video and the program will display its parameters (the resolution, the FPS, the audio stream, etc.). Press “Check Errors” or “Check & Repair” and it will show you if that file needs to be fixed or not, and will fix it, if necessary. I tested five broken AVI video files and to my surprise, this tool fixed all of them.
Furthermore, this tool can load and repair AVI files of various types: standard AVI files (Microsoft Video for Windows), OpenDML AVI files or even multi-track AVI files. A lot of advanced features are available, such as support for detecting the key-frame for various types of codecs (XviD, DivX, Microsoft MPEG4, etc.).
There’s not much to say about this tool. It’s small, lightweight, free and it seems to have a pretty high success rate when it comes to repairing broken AVI video files. I recommend it with all my heart.
